Privacy Policy for Clueless
Effective Date: April 24, 2026
Clueless ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").
1. Information We Collect
- User-Provided Photos: To provide our core virtual try-on feature, the App requires you to upload a full-body photo (your "Digital Twin"). Garment photos you add to your closet are also collected. These photos are stored securely in Firebase Storage.
- Authentication Data: You may sign in using Apple Sign In, which may share your name and email address with us (depending on your Apple ID settings). If you choose not to sign in, we use Firebase Anonymous Authentication, which does not collect personal identifiers.
- Display Name: You may optionally provide your name during onboarding.
- App Usage Data: We collect anonymous data about how you interact with the App (e.g., screen views, swipes, item interactions, try-on events) using Firebase Analytics. This data is used to improve our recommendation engine and user experience.
- Pinterest Data: If you choose to connect your Pinterest account, we access your public boards and pins to import style inspiration. We do not store your Pinterest credentials; authentication is handled by Pinterest's OAuth flow.
2. Third-Party AI Data Sharing — Google Gemini
This section explains how your personal data is shared with a third-party AI service.
The App uses Google LLC's Gemini AI service (the "AI Service") to power its core features. Before any data is shared with Google, the App requests your explicit consent via a dedicated in-app disclosure screen. You must grant permission before any personal data is transmitted.
2.1 What Data Is Sent to Google
The following personal data may be sent to Google's Gemini AI servers when you use AI-powered features:
- Your selfie / full-body photo (your "Digital Twin") — used for virtual try-on generation
- Photos of clothing items you upload to your closet — used for garment digitization and analysis
- Photos of clothing items used in virtual try-on — combined with your Digital Twin to generate try-on images
No other personal data (name, email, location, etc.) is sent to Google's AI service.
2.2 Who Receives Your Data
Your photos are sent to Google LLC (headquartered in Mountain View, California, USA), which processes them using its Gemini AI service on Google's servers. Google acts as a data processor on our behalf under its Gemini API Terms of Service.
2.3 Why This Data Is Sent
Your photos are processed by Google Gemini AI to:
- Generate virtual try-on images — showing you wearing fashion items
- Digitize garment photos — creating clean product images for your digital closet
- Analyze clothing items — detecting category (top, bottom, shoes, etc.), color, and style metadata
- Create outfit combinations — suggesting coordinated outfits from your wardrobe
2.4 How This Data Is Protected
- All data is transmitted securely via HTTPS encryption
- Google processes the images solely to generate and return results per their Gemini API Terms of Service
- Your data is not used by Google to train their AI models when accessed via their paid API tier
- We do not store your photos on any server other than your private Firebase account and Google's transient processing
2.5 Your Control Over AI Data Sharing
- Consent required: You are asked for explicit consent before any data is sent to Google. The App will not send photos to Google without your permission.
- Withdraw consent: You can disable AI data sharing at any time in the App's Settings. This will disable AI-powered features (try-on, digitization, outfit combos) but you can continue using the app.
- Delete your data: You can delete all your data by deleting your account in the App's Settings.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Virtual Try-On: Your photo and garment images are sent to Google Gemini AI to generate virtual try-on images, as described in Section 2.
- Garment Digitization: Clothing photos are processed by Google Gemini AI to create clean product images and extract metadata (category, color, style), as described in Section 2.
- Image Preparation: Your photo may be processed by a server-side image segmentation service to crop and prepare it for virtual try-on. Only the photo is sent; no other personal data is transmitted.
- Personalization: We use your style preferences and interaction data to recommend outfits and products tailored to your taste.
- App Improvement: We use anonymous usage data and may review uploaded content to enhance our styling algorithms, fix bugs, ensure quality, and improve the user experience.

5. Research Interviews
From time to time, we may invite users to participate in research interviews to help us improve the App. Participation is entirely voluntary, and declining will not affect your access to or experience with the App. If you choose to participate, contact details (such as your name, email address, and scheduling preferences) may be collected through third-party scheduling tools. Any information collected through these tools is used solely to coordinate and conduct the research interview, and is not used for marketing or combined with your in-app data.

- When you delete your account, all associated data (photos, profile, closet items, saved outfits) is permanently deleted from our servers.
- Anonymous analytics data is retained in aggregate form and cannot be linked back to you after account deletion.
8. Age Requirement
The App is intended for users aged 18 and older. By using the App, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
